Day 40, 16 x 20 in.
Day 40 was created on the final day of the 40 Days of Painting Challenge completed in fall of 2016. Below is the description I wrote on my Instagram page the day I shared this final painting. It was the end of something for me, but very much the beginning too.
" I feel really proud of myself for doing this challenge. It may have only been 40 days but it was 40 days of possibilities and allowing myself to paint freely for no one else. And that been a gift that I have neglected to give myself for a long time.
Yesterday in church our Priest said "Over time we become we we really are." If I could sum up one defining statement for this journey I've been on this particular year it would be that. I've danced along this edge of allowing myself to think that maybe I have something more to say as an artist. But this little challenge pushed me into something much greater than I expected. It's given me a cohesive body of work that I didn't realize I was capable of making. And it's helped me to realize that I am an artist who loves color and texture and lines. This process, this year, has been an embracing of self for me. An embracing of how I was created, a recognizing of what I am capable of and a remembering of the importance of fun. Love what you do and over time you will realize that there really is no one else that you'd rather become but yourself. "
Day 40 is a mixed media ( acrylic ink, gouache and pencil ). It is created on a gallery wrapped professional canvas and is 16 x 20 in. and 1 1/2" deep.
